Brownlee Foundation Event – Hull
Background
The Brownlee Foundation events have been set up by Alistair and Jonny so they can give something back to the community. They attribute much of their success to people they met as youngsters around schools, clubs and events who had a fantastic passion for sport. We’ve teamed up with Pho3nix Kids to bring you the events in 2024.
Event
The event will give Key Stage 2 pupils an opportunity to try the disciplines of the triathlon. No previous experience or expertise in triathlon is required.
Children will swim 3 sides of the pool, cycle 800m on grass and run 300m (all distances are approximate). Bikes and helmets will be provided and every child will receive a t-shirt beforehand and a medal and goody bag when they cross the finish line.
For less confident swimmers, a one width swim option is available, remaining in shallow water and scooters are available for children who are unable to ride a bike.
Timing
The event will run from 9.30am – 3.00pm and schools who would like to attend will be allocated a timeslot for their children to take part. Each school will be given an arrival time.
Upon arrival, schools will go through the check-in and briefing process. We anticipate that schools will be onsite for approximately 1½ hours in total (subject to the number of schools and children participating). Once your children have finished the triathlon you will be free to return to school.
Numbers
Each school is asked to indicate how many KS2 children they would like to bring should spaces permit.
However please note that if demand exceeds capacity, the number of children per school may have to be limited and spaces will be allocated on a first come, first serve basis. We recommend bringing a full class or year group so that all children can participate.
Registration
At this stage, we would like to know if your school would like to participate in the event. Please complete the registration form below by clicking ‘Register’.
Once we have closed registration, we will then email to confirm the number of spaces you have been allocated and further details for the day.
These events are for primary schools therefore only entries from schools, completed by school staff, will be accepted.
